Race Recap: Hickory with CARS Tour

First race of the season kicked off for us at the Cars Tour Event at Hickory. We had an excellent practice Wednesday fine tuning the new R&S Car and showed tremendous speed. Arrived back for the official practice on Friday and 2 good practices with the car showing speed and consistency.

We purchased two more sticker sets on Saturday morning and the car immediately went from good too bad with no changes to the car except 4 new tires in the first practice. Thinking we must have got a bad set of tires we put the older tires back on the car that we had used Wednesday and Friday for final practice and the car immediately went from bad to good again and finished p10 on 100 lap plus tires.

Unfortunately the race set we purchased was not very good as well, the car went back to the way it was on the new set earlier Saturday in qualifying. All our driver could do was to hang on to a loose race car from lap 20 on. At the halfway point while running in the top 15 we had to make a decision to just ride the last 50 laps and salvage a finish and keep the car in one piece. Chase finished P19 and was very frustrated at the finish knowing he had a Top 10 Car all weekend.

Unfortunately we were not the only ones who was dealt with the same issues as we learned that there was a few teams that was dealt the same blow as we did with bad sets of tires. Some of the CARS Tour Staff actually came to our trailer after the race and personally apologized to Chase and the team for the poor tire selection to pick from and asked us to please come back and race again as they are working hard to remedy this from happening again.

The CARS Tour purchases the tires from another vendor and it's hard for them to control and totally not at fault but to spend $2118 for 3 sets of tires to get the car dialed in and only get one good set is not good for the teams who put in a tremendous amount of hours to be the best they can be and unfortunately its beyond the Drivers and Teams control.

Thank You to the Cars Tour for the Hospitality and welcoming us to your series.
